It is exactly what you would expect it to be: Big, Loud, and Slow.

jumbo jets still bother me how large and slow they appear to be moving... Yet are elevating and flying

I heard earlier today that it was flying north out of MSP around 9pm. The six engines give off a unique sound so i looked out my window and there it was! I tried to get a photo but wasn't quick enough.

That's freaking cool!
I live near Wright Patt, and see the C5's flying around all the time. I am always amazed that they can do that. I can't imagine that monster is capable of flight. That had to be something to witness.

I'm assuming some company needed to ship a massive amount of cargo quickly. Also, as far as I know, the Russians only ever made one of these. I don't know of any companies in MN that make anything that large/ heavy that they need the Mriya

I did some reading and apparently It was picking up large A/C units to bring to the middle east. I also found video of the take off from a local news channel: http://kstp.com/news/stories/S…

Dang why couldn't it have flown over while I was working outside in Eagan. That would've been cool to see.

I saw this thing at Farnborough Air Show years ago. The takeoff wax amazing: he taxied onto the end of the runway, kept taxiing for a couple of hundred yards with no obvious noise or acceleration, and then suddenly the wheels were in the air and it was flying. Takeoff apeed must have been like 50mph. At which point he pointed the nose to the sky, gassed it, and took off like a scalded elephant.
Amazing, the performance of a heavy hauler with no payload and empty tanks!

This makes me happy. I assume it's telling gravity to "deal with it"

I saw it taxi and take off in Donnington UK. Defies belief seeing that thing lumber up to speed and take off.

I've seen it, when it came to Raleigh.
It's an Imperial Star Destroyer. Not one smooth surface, but panel after panel after panel, all in slightly different shades, going on and on and on.
Life imitating art imitating life or something like that.
